Battery Modelling
Developing more durable, safer and less expensive next generation batteries is critical to achieving the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy.
To dramatically speed-up battery R&D, highly accurate computer simulations are needed which can turn laboratory experiments into digital research.
At the meso-scale all relevant battery processes can be modelled through a set of nonlinear coupled PDEs governing electrical dynamics, mass and thermal diffusion, and battery ageing at different time-scales.
However, solving such models in 3D at full complexity requires very substantial approximation.
PASQAL’s research in this field is supported by €10M funding from the European Innovation Council.
PASQAL’s unique and proprietary solvers for differential equations promise a more accurate and efficient solution and implemented on our quantum processors these methods promise quantum advantage in the very near-term.
